About the Role

Fronks Road Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for an advanced nurse practitioner to join our friendly team on a part-time basis. 

The advanced nurse practitioner will need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients making any necessary referrals to the duty or registered doctor as appropriate. There will be a requirement to see extra or emergency patients as well as completing nursing home visits and assisting home visits. 

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • consulting with patients either face-to-face or by telephone;
  • diagnosing and treating patients presenting with minor illness;
  • advising people in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs. 
  • consult with patients regarding their disease management.
  • Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad.
  • annual review of patients within the disease management of QOF;
  • any other ad hoc practice nurse tasks required. 

The post-holder will also be required to:

  • Apply practice policies, standards and guidance
  • Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work
  • Participate in audits where appropriate.
About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • Professional registration with relevant professional body: NMC.
  • Post-graduate qualification in specific speciality, or equivalent experience.
  • Qualified prescriber.
  • Evidence of on-going CPD.
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills.
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and recording spirometry.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work.  The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
