About the Role
Lister Medical Centre has an opportunity for an Insurance Administrator to join our busy practice support team, on a part time basis for 30 hours per week (Monday - Friday) - times to be agreed 

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • To organise copies of patient records for patients or 3rd party collection, requesting patient Lloyd George notes (in liaison with the registrations administrator) are retrieved in a timely manner, ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed accurately in line with the GDPR guidelines
  • Receive logging, copying, and actioning any Insurance, Solicitor, or 3rd Party requests for patient records/reports.
  • Advise patients of relevant charges for private non-NHS services, Logging of payments for non-NHS work, issuing receipts and liaising with Practice Finance.
  • To arrange appointments for patients Medical’s with the relevant doctor, ensuring patients are fully aware of date and time.
  • Type letters for non-NHS work as requested by the GP’s
  • Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors in relation to patient’s medical notes.
  • Receive and make calls as required.  Divert calls and take messages as appropriate.
  • Ensure correspondence, reports, results, etc. are filed in correct order.
  • An understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
  • An ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, common sense, and local knowledge, to respond to patients’ enquiries and requests.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
About Us
We are a friendly, supportive, democratic, well organised and enthusiastic GMS Practice, dedicated to providing traditional family orientated General Practice based at a new purpose built single site health centre in Harlow.
We currently have approx 20,000 patients, 6 Partners, 2 Salaried GP’s, a large nursing support team and a vast array of administrative staff.  We are a Training Practice and also Teaching Practice for Cambridge students. We are also a Research Practice.
