About the Role
 Vida Healthcare is currently looking for a dynamic, reliable, hardworking and passionate person to join our Respiratory nursing team. The role is offered for 16 hours per week.

Our patients demand the highest standards of care and if you are conscientious with a strong team-working ethic, then this could be the ideal role for you.

You will be responsible for providing high quality specialty nursing service to patients, across our practices.

You can expect to be mentored and supported by Lead GP and Executive Nursing Team, whilst you are empowered to deliver care within the boundaries of your role. 

Your focus would be to support patients to be healthy and to monitor long-term conditions.  We conduct a wide range of health prevention and screening activities and you will be essential to this service to support and facilitate high quality individualised care to patients without supervision.

Job Summary                                                                            

  • Provide a high-quality service to all our respiratory patient
  • Maintain and look after our Asthma, COPD and Respiratory Disease registers
  • Perform detailed diagnostic tests e.g., reversibility testing and monitoring, pulse oximetry
  • Follow diagnostic pathways and recognised guidelines
  • Use of protocols to guide diagnostic and therapeutic options
  • Discuss treatment options with the Clinicians
  • Referral of patients when necessary to community or secondary care
  • Discuss and develop self-management plans and education with patients
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge, competence and clinical skills in respiratory care and management appropriate to the needs of the patient
  • Assume accountability and responsibility for delivery of care including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and referral
  • Work as part of a team
  • Continue to keep up to date with current guidelines & professional development
  • Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
  • Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
  • At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
  • A duty to advise senior nurse or GPs of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks
  • Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
  • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post inc. possible covid vaccinations

About the Candidate
If you are an experienced Practice Nurse looking for an exciting new change in career then we would love to hear from you.
You will have the following skills and qualifications:
  • Registered with NMC
  • Registered Nurse
  •  Experienced in working with patients with respiratory disease and long term conditions
  • Has a background in any of the following areas Primary care, Respiratory nursing, ED, WIC, UCT or district Nursing with a min of 18mths post registration experience
  • Hold a recognised and accredited qualification in COPD / Asthma
  • Has the ability to travel across all sites
  • Post registration, specialist training relevant to speciality
  • Experience in spirometry
  • Advanced knowledge of current National treatment guidelines relating to breathlessness such as COPD, asthma and other respiratory conditions.
